finally have announced the winners of the fifteenth edition of Osamu Tezuka Cultural Awards, awarded by the Asahi newspaper to authors and works that best contribute to the manga industry. The jury of this edition was composed by famous authors such as Go Nagai (Mazinger Z, Devilman), essayists and academics among others. The finalists in categories Grand Award, Breakthrough Artist and Best Short Path were:
Grand Prize:
Jin Motoko Murakami (20 volumes, Shueisha. Dorama two seasons)
Takemitsu Eifuku Zamurai of Issei and Taiyo Matsumoto (8 volumes, Shogakukan. Published in Spain by Glénat as Zamurái Takemitsu: The samurai who sold his soul)
Newcomer Award:
Hiromu Arakawa (Fullmetal Alchemist)
Best Short Biography:
Keisuke Yamashina (C-kyu Salaryman Koza, Papa wa Nanda ka Wakaranai, etc.).
Winners will receive their financial compensation (2 billion yen and a statue of Astroboy Memorial in the case of the Grand Prix class and a million yen for the other winners) in a ceremony on 27 May each year as a prestigious hotel.
